LOCAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL 43 OFFICERS

ASSOCIATION OF FLIGHT ATTENDANTS - CWA, AFL-CIO

Honolulu, Council 43

CWA Local Council 29043

Your Local Executive Council (LEC) Officers

Took Office: July 1, 2017

Term Expires: June 30, 2020

AFA Election Category II

We immediately began our administration following the Council 43 election in April 2014.  At that time, we learned that we had almost identical goals for how we worked and what we wanted to accomplish for the membership during our term.

From that point on, we were fortunate to have found volunteers who had the desire to serve the membership while sharing a similar work ethic.  Our Team Leaders and Representatives are hard-working, willing to help others without being asked, and insightful individuals. We are elated to work side-by-side together and feel that we can achieve good and positive things for the membership.

With the stalwart support from the MEC, International and Council 47, we have been working to provide you the best service possible.  Our goals include:

1.  being present in the lounge

2.  answering your questions via call, text or email in a timely fashion - usually within a hour if not day

3.  working with the MEC to ensure that the information that we provide you is accurate

4.  listening to your concerns and issues and addressing them, again, in a timely fashion

5.  supporting the Flight Attendant group in a positive and respectful manner

Much like our first term, once the LEC elections concluded April 2017, Kerri officially joined us as an LEC officer and we worked towards determining how to continue to serve the membership!  Our goals have not changed, but how we do things have.  We now have a complete LEC officer team to work more efficiently and cover more for you.  As we move forward, we will grow our volunteer group. Together, we are definitely stronger together and better together!

Once again, we'd like to thank you for the opportunity to serve you.  We are grateful for a wonderful Flight Attendant group that represents the best of Hawaii and the industry!

In Solidarity and With Aloha,

Jaci-Ann, Kahea and Kerri

Jaci-Ann joined Hawaiian Airlines in 1998 after working in the food and beverage industry and later commercial property management.  She was based in Los Angeles for 2 years where she was an in-flight instructor and project manager for the In-Flight Manual overhaul.  In 2001, she relocated back to Honolulu.

As your LEC President, her goals include:

* making a concerted effort to learn about the airlines industry, our union and current events that impact our work group;

* becoming more knowledgable about our Contract, it's history and the intent of the language that was mutually agreed upon between the AFA and company;

* educating, informing and advocating for the Flight Attendant group; and

* an ongoing commitment to help the membership move forward as a collective and informed group.

Jaci-Ann enjoys flying the gamut of Hawaiian Airlines routes, especially 5-day trips that she considers "paid vacation."  She also enjoys inter-island trips and occasionally works Reserve lines for the spontaneous schedules.

When she is not at work, Jaci-Ann enjoys traveling to visit family and friends, and checking items off her bucket-list.

Kahea was raised in California and would spend childhood vacations in Hawaii visiting family.  After moving to Honolulu, she worked many years in the service and hospitality industry before joining Hawaiian Airlines as a Flight Attendant in 1996.

Now that her children are well into their teens, she chose to run for LEC Vice President due to her desire to serve the membership.  Her tenacity and boundless energy brings a spark and ability to respond to Flight Attendant issues on a regular basis.

Kahea is trained as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Representative after going through basic, advanced and Critical Incident Response Program training.  She has assumed an expanded role in EAP after meeting crews following incidents, helping Flight Attendants and assisting with the EAP response protocol.

Kahea enjoys working ICN and HND trips but, more recently, has switched to hub-turns to be closer to home.  During her free time, she enjoys exercising, fishing, and spending time with her family.

Kerri first volunteered in the AFA while based in LA.  She was an Air Safety, Health and Security representative & later LEC Chair. In addition, Kerri was also an inflight instructor for a number of years. Now that her daughter is of school age, Kerri has returned to the ASHS Team as both the LEC and MEC chairperson.

When she is not flying, Kerri focuses on being the Flight Attendants' voice in monthly meetings with the company.  As Safety Professionals, it is critical to ensure that we have the information and tools we need to succeed on the job.

More recently, she have been working closely with ALPA so our shared concerns are addressed by the company in all departments that affect our common interests.

Her role as the ASHS chairperson also includes working closely with EAP. They collaborate to ensure that the membership's safety and health needs are met especially when there are inflight incidents.

Kerri also assists with the daily needs of the Flight Attendant group.  She is available in the AFA Garden office and lounge especially when we are doing Membership and Safety campaigns.
